I received my Wellness Coaching certification through Mayo Clinic Health Systems. They explain coaching in this way:
“Wellness coaching is an inspiring and effective way to empower you to successfully reach your health and wellness goals. Coaching will help you focus on taking action to move toward your ideal wellness through conversation-based inquiry, personal discovery and goal setting.”

Coaching involves asking strategic questions and encouraging you to identify ways to make changes in your overall well-beingI
Wellness Coaching is driven by what the the “coachee” (that’s YOU…) is interested in addressing. A Certified Wellness Coach (that’s ME…) will ask strategic questions that are intended to help the you develop a plan of action to address an issue.
For me, crafting is a helpful (and enjoyable!) way to slow down. And, slowing down causes me to reflect. This is why crafting and coaching blend nicely together.
Parallels can be drawn between crafting and wellness coaching in so many ways:
You choose a “project”, collect the resources you need, anticipate and troubleshoot around challenges, work the project and then celebrate what you’ve accomplished!
WIP is a knitting term. It stands for “work in progress.” Aren’t we all works in progress?
